KHWE Employees Receive IPSAS Training to Strengthen Financial Reporting Capacity!

Kinderhilfswerk Global Care Ethiopia (KHWE) recently held a successful three-day training on International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS), empowering 13 staff members. This initiative underscores KHWE’s ongoing dedication to strengthening internal capacity and promoting financial transparency.
The training brought together a diverse group of participants, including department managers, program coordinators, finance staff, and key team members. Over the course of the intensive sessions, attendees explored vital IPSAS topics essential for accurate and effective public sector financial reporting.
Participants commended the training for its high quality and the expertise of the facilitators. The interactive sessions provided valuable practical insights into IPSAS implementation, a key component in managing donor-funded and public sector projects with transparency and accountability.
KHWE remains committed to investing in staff development across various disciplines, striving to build a skilled, responsive, and future-ready workforce dedicated to supporting vulnerable communities in Ethiopia.

Kinderhilfswerk Global Care Ethiopia Support Elders Feeding Program in Bishoftu!

In response to the GO-CSO (Government Organizations-Civil Society Organizations) Forum Bishoftu’s call for support, KHW GC Ethiopia proudly contributed to the elders’ feeding program. We provided a full week of meals for 20 elders sheltered under ROTOM Ethiopia Old Age Care Cente,r reaffirming our dedication to community well-being and supporting vulnerable members in Bishoftu.

KHW Global Care Ethiopia TVET Trainees Achieve 100% Pass Rate in National CoC Assessment!

We are proud to announce a remarkable milestone in skills development at Kinderhilfswerk Global Care Ethiopia. All 113 trainees from our Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) program successfully passed the National Center of Competence (CoC) assessment, achieving a 100% success rate.
This significant accomplishment reflects our unwavering commitment to excellence in training and empowering our students. The three-day assessment evaluated trainees across four vital departments in hospitality and service: Bakery & Pastry Production, Front Office Service, Food & Beverage Service, and Culinary Arts.
We are pleased to share that every trainee was officially certified as COMPETENT by national assessors, reaffirming the high standards of our training programs and the exceptional dedication of our students and staff.
As Mr. Moges Bekele, a senior trainer at KHW Global Care Ethiopia, explains, “The 70% hands-on learning is critical because our trainees are being shaped into production workers who must be ready to deliver in real-world settings.”

KHW Global Care Ethiopia Achieves CoC Assessment Center License!

We are proud to announce that KHW Global Care Ethiopia has been officially recognized as a Center of Competence (CoC) Assessment Center. This important milestone reflects our commitment to excellence in skills development and vocational training.
Over the past year, KHW Global Care Ethiopia demonstrated its readiness through three rounds of CoC assessments, extensive facility improvements, and consistent efforts to align with national standards. These dedicated efforts culminated in the successful certification process, which involved formal application, detailed inspections, and oversight by relevant authorities.
With this new status, our organization is now fully authorized to assess trainees across a wide range of technical and vocational fields within our own training campus. We remain committed to providing high-quality training and contributing to the development of skilled professionals in our community.
A Major Win for Our Trainees
This achievement delivers immediate benefits to our trainees. With the ability to conduct CoC assessments on our own campus, trainees can now be evaluated in a familiar and comfortable environment. This reduces stress and helps them perform at their best. Eliminating the need to travel or face assessments in unfamiliar settings, this development is expected to significantly improve training outcomes and support our trainees’ success.

Oromia Regional State Job Creation and Vocational Bureau Head Visits Kinderhilfswerk Global Care Ethiopia TVET Projects (KHW-GCE)

We were honoured to host Mr. Nesredin Keja, the newly appointed Head of the Oromia Regional State Job Creation and Vocational Bureau, along with his team. The visit aimed to introduce him to our training center and explore partnership opportunities.
During the visit, KHWE showcased training facilities, workshops, and on-going programs through a detailed presentation and a guided tour. The delegation highly appreciated our efforts and the impact of our skills development initiatives.
Impressed by our training quality, Mr. Nesredin encouraged the organization to upgrade the center to a Polytechnic level and supported the expansion into new departments to offer more diverse training opportunities for youth. This support is expected to significantly enhance the sustainability and long-term impact of our TVET center by enabling us to provide higher-quality; comprehensive training that meets regional labour market needs, attracting more youth and stakeholders, and ensuring on-going development and relevance of our programs.
Mrs. Meskerem Zewdie, KHW-GCE Country Director, stated, “This visit was very productive. The strong support and positive feedback from the Bureau leadership motivate us to continue advancing vocational training and job creation in the region.”

KHWE Training Center Launches New Batch Vocational Training Programs

KHWE Training Center recently held an orientation session to kick off its latest batch of vocational training programs. The event, hosted at the center’s main training hall, brought together trainers, trainees, and administrative staff to discuss the program’s structure, expectations, and the critical role of vocational education in today’s competitive job market.

These programs have been introduced to meet the rising demand for skilled professionals in the hospitality and food service industries. KHW Global Care Ethiopia Hosts Comprehensive Trainers’ Methodology Training to Enhance TVET Education

KHW Global Care Ethiopia (KHWGCE) recently hosted an impactful Trainers Methodology Training designed to enhance the teaching methodologies and professional qualifications of trainers from both KHWGCE and various Technical and Vocational Education and Training (T-VET) institutions. This initiative reflects KHWGCE’s commitment to fostering excellence in vocational training and aligning with national skill development standards.
In collaboration with the Bishoftu City Administration (Ethiopia) Job Opportunity Creation and Skill Office, KHWGCE provided licensed and experienced trainers to facilitate the program. The training took place at KHWGCE’s facility, where Seventeen participants—including six from KHWGCE—benefited from a state-of-the-art training hall and modern amenities in a supportive learning environment.
The Trainers’ Methodology Training focused on equipping participants with the necessary skills and competencies to deliver effective, outcome-based training while upholding professional standards. Key topics covered included:

Kinderhilfswerk Global Care Ethiopia Brightens Ethiopian Christmas for 50 Elders in Bishoftu City

In the spirit of Ethiopian Christmas, Kinderhilfswerk Global Care Ethiopia brightened the holiday season for 50 vulnerable elders from Bishoftu town. Many of these seniors are grappling with significant challenges, including limited income, food scarcity, and inadequate shelter. KHWGCE hosted a special celebration that instilled joy, hope, and a sense of belonging in the community.
The gathering took place at a welcoming venue, where the elders were treated to a warm and delicious lunch. For many, this was a rare treat, as they often manage just one meal a day, if that. Most attendees indicated that lunch is their preferred meal, with breakfast and dinner typically being out of reach.
Beyond providing a nourishing meal, KHWGCE addressed another vital need by offering each elder new clothing, ensuring their Christmas was marked not only by nourishment but also by warmth and dignity. The smiles and gratitude expressed by the participants underscored the significant impact of these kind gestures.
The elders extended heartfelt thanks to KHWGCE for including them in such a meaningful celebration. They emphasized how invaluable it was to be remembered and highlighted the rarity of such acts of kindness. Many expressed hope that KHWGCE and other charitable organizations would continue to support them beyond the holiday season, as they face on-going challenges related to basic needs like food and clothing.

Volunteer Team Successfully Completes Mission in Ethiopia and Returns to Germany

A volunteer team led by our Chairman, Mr. George Frank, and his wife, Mrs. Marion Frank, has successfully completed its mission in Ethiopia and returned to Germany. This dedicated group, made up of experts such as web developers and IT specialists, showcased a strong commitment to impactful volunteer service.
During their stay with Kinderhilfswerk Global Care Ethiopia, the volunteers contributed significantly to knowledge transfer, skill-sharing, and team-building efforts. They provided valuable support to local projects, boosting the technical skills of the organization’s staff and fostering a positive exchange of knowledge and culture. A major highlight of their mission was the launch of the organization’s new website a testament to their technical expertise and dedication.
In addition to technical improvements, Mrs. Marion played a key role in organizing the day-care center, which she emphasized as being beneficial for the children of program beneficiaries and employees alike.
The success of this volunteer mission underscores the value of international collaboration.
